November 8 – December 1, 2024: Measure Twice Cut Once at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles, CA

Since my last post in July, I have been using my own personal growth book to boost my art practice. Since that time these things have been completed:

July title of practice: Wield Your Wand
1. Realized how many projects I have and the materials to complete them.
2. Organized materials into groups.
3. Began an art series titled, Making Magic with What I Have.
4. Began making tassel earrings using left over embroidery threads inherited from my grandmother.
5. Began making collages on 16 x20 board, and work on a collage diary.

August title of practice: Liberate Yourself
1. Continue collage work, and collage diary.
2.

So excited to announce that my piece, Center was chosen as part of a collage themed art show curated by Bernadette McConnell, titled Measure Twice Cut Once at the fantastic La Luz de Jesus Gallery (the birthplace of pop surrealism) located at 4633 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Whatever the outcome of this year's election, if you are in L.A., let's gather in community at the opening day party on Friday, November 8 from 7 to 11pm. I'd love to see you there. If you can't make it to the opening, the show will be up through December 1st and will be sure to inspire with the marvel of the paper cut collage medium.

How I got in: This summer as I started to organize my art materials, beautiful pieces of Japanese washi paper, scraps of fortunes and good luck images appeared and I started making collages out of paper as a new series of work. I am so proud to be a part of this show! This will be the first time I'm showing work at my favorite art gallery in Los Angeles, the iconic, . There are so many wonderful collages that are part of the show. Come out for the opening on : )

Hours

Sunday 11 am-6 pm
The gallery is located inside the Soap Plant/Wacko complex.
